The first TCO Agromart Farmers&Friends Open Bonspiel was a great success thanks to Jim Stapley and Pam Jordan. Sixteen teams from all over the area curled three games with the team of Vince Brennan, Jerry Whyte, Steve Orr, Bill Rickard from Trenton Curling Club making it to the top by winning all three games. Vince thanked all the kitchen staff for lovely meals starting with morning goodies by Cathy Palmer and crew, a hearty lunch by Linda Yorke and crew and ending with a Prime Rib Dinner by Sheryl Martin/Pam Jordan and helpers. Second place from the Quinte Curling Club went to the team of Art McIsaac, Bob Prystai, Richard Beare, Ron Hare who thanked the bar staff of Paul Reinink, Jim Sunstrum, Janie Ryan for keeping all glasses topped up. Jim Stapley thanked all the sponsors of this new event for making his job easier keeping all participants happy all day long and still presenting an awesome prize table. In no particular order is TCO Agromart Terry and Sandra O’Neill, Farm Credit Canada, MacKinnon Bros Brewery, Kaiser Lake Farms, Peter Oetelaar Farm Produce, Charlie Detlor Maple Syrup, Agribrands Purina Canada, Syngenta Canada, Bergeron Estates Wine, Food Less Travelled-Dave & Kim Perry, Ripplebrook Farm-Kevin MacLean, Napanee Flooring, Seasons Fine Foods, Cheers Apple Orchard, Wilton Cheese, Quinn’s Meats, Topsy Farms, Mike Stockfish - President of Napanee Golf & Country Club. Jim ended the evening by thanking all the club volunteers for making his job easier and all the participants for making the First Annual TCO Agromart Farmers&Friends Open Bonspiel a terrific success and fun for all. The club was still rocking on Sunday 4th with our Annual Ladies Club thanks to convenor Moira Sickling and a slew of helpers who will all be thanked in our monthly Newsletter and on our TV Volunteer Appreciation Video. This year two teams tied for first place with 25 ¼ points so congratulations to Janie Ryan, Karen Mills, Lynn Austin, Linda Perry and Susi Reinink, Linda Bongard, Val Burgess, Marlene Strang.
Your kitchen director and your bar director are still busy filling the slate of volunteers for events still to come so if you find you have still duties to complete please get a hold of them and help us make the rest of the season’s events as successful has those already held. Your league directors are compiling lists of who is curling in the last draw so please be alert to the sign up sheet being distributed or on bulletin boards.
